How to Improve Your Promotional Calendar Design

Giving out a print calendar is a great way to promote your business because calendars are used every day of the year. No other advertising medium puts reminders of your business before consumers that often for such a reasonable cost. Here are some steps for making a print calendar that people will want to use year round.

Step 1: Choose a Theme that Showcases Your Products or Business
If you want to create wall calendars, use the photographs to promote your products or services. You can do this by featuring your products in unique ways in the photographs. You could also ask satisfied customers to pose using your products and include a short story about how your business has helped them. Another fun way to personalize your business is to feature employees wearing funny costumes on each page.

Step 2: Include Sales Event Dates
Throughout the print calendar, announce special sales events and offer coupons to get people to come into your store. Be sure to include your logo and website or phone number on every page of your print calendar to remind people about your business.

Step 3: Find a Format that Encourages Use
If you are designing wall calendars, make sure the date squares are large enough for people to write in. You might also consider printing desk calendars or pocket calendars which tend to get used a lot. Include spaces for notes to encourage people to use your calendar often.

Step 4: Use a Professional Designer
When it comes to actually putting together each calendar page, a professional designer will make your calendar look the best. Some online printing companies offer in house designers for a reasonable fee, which can save you money compared to finding a designer on your own.

Step 5: Make Your Calendars More Functional with the Right Paper Stock
To ensure that your print calendar lasts all year, you will need to choose a heavier weight of paper stock. For your cover you should use 100lb paper stock with an aqueous coating. The inside of the calendar can be 80 to 100lb stock in matte or a light gloss so people can write on the pages.
